Today was a nice biking day. It started with some seaviews in Tammisaari which also has a very cute old town.
After Tammisaari, the coastal route makes a sharp turn to the north to the direction of Salo. As there are soo many peninsulas here, you have to skip some of them. Our path brought us along many farms and rural areas, some of the beautiful houses had a sea view. It's so nice to bike along the fields, seeing what they grow there, and all the flowers are blooming on the side of the road. This area around Tammisaari is, by the way, Swedish-speaking, so sometimes they were as shy speaking Finnish as I was in the beginning :)
The weather was super on and off today. We got rain, sun, rain, sun, rain, sun etc. So there's this Finnish saying: "Kesä kuivaa minkä kastelee." which mean as much as "the summer dries what it wets". We decided to turn it around: "Kesä kastelee minkä kuivaa.", so "the summer wets what it dries". That's how we felt at times, hehe. This is more like the Finnish summer I know, not the 30+ degrees we had in June...
Some noteworthy stops: in Tenhola we bought some local cheese and bread and tested them right away while waiting for a shower to pass. On the side of the road we found many many wild strawberries and picked some. And even tasted the very first blueberries! They're blue already, but one or two more weeks will certainly give them some more taste.
And now we arrived at our destination for tonight: Teijo National Park. With some evening sun we'll chill here and enjoy the wonderful lake view.
Hej!
ReplyDeleteNice pictures so far! Can't wait to see the whole content... :D
Good Luck (especially with the weather) for the next route!
Greetings from Berlin!
Thank you! There are more pictures waiting (but not too many ;)) Seems like it's getting uphill with the weather at least today, fingers crossed. Things are getting dry again though after the first days :D
