The morning was already so hot that I started with a refreshing swim. Then via the countryside villages I reached Kalmar in the afternoon which was also the highlight of the day. It was a much more welcoming city than I expected. I thoguht it might be a rather ugly harbour city, but it had also a nice old town, welcoming shopping area and the castle of Gustav Vasa. I spent some time walking around, had lunch and visited the castle.
It was really nice to have a look around the castle where they also had some furniture and interiors. It was also interesting to read about the Kings and trades during that time. Finland was part of the Swedish empire when the Kalmar Castle had its high times.
Then on the way out of Kalmar I reached the first in total 1000 km since I left Helsinki :) Maybe about half way? Let's see.
Congratulation for first 1000 bike km :-). Nice city! Have a good Start today!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! And a good start for you, too :)
DeleteCongratulation for the first one 1000 km. We are now also on the holiday cycling tour in Holland and have made the first 40 km. Be strong and happy on your tour! Uwe and Gisela
ReplyDeleteThank you! Great that you had a good start. Enjoy Holland and biking there. I hope you don't have too strong winds.
DeleteHi Anja,
ReplyDelete1000km Wow totally strong:))
In Kalmar Slott did you see a very intresting map from the world and many other old things. There are also many small, sweet towns and villages on our way. And beetween a lot of agricultur and livestock farming. Our hotel today is located on the Aller, which flows into the Weser here in Verden.
ReplyDeleteGreetings after a 60 km tour from
MaPa
Yes, the World map was very interesting. Nice, I think the countryside views might be quite similar. Today I even saw some big pigs! Great tour, 60 km, stay strong and enjoy :)
